2012 Galaxy Academy Program
The 2012 Galaxy Academy Program will be structured across four nine week periods in alliance with school terms. Each nine week period will focus on a specific core topic of the Galaxy Academy Curriculum.
Training Times & Venue Details
- Monday Nights
- Training Session from 6:00pm to 7:15pm
- Holy Cross College Bottom Oval, 517 Victoria Road, Ryde NSW 2112
Age Groups
- 5yrs - 8yrs
* Coaching emphasis is placed on players learning to master the ball and learning to act with the ball purposefully.
- 9yrs - 13 yrs
* Coaching emphasis is placed on players learning to act with the ball purposefully, learning to play together purposefully, and learning the positions and basic tasks of 11v11
* As set out by the FFA National Curriculum.
Please note that due to our continued support of Football Federation Australia’s national development plan, Galaxy Football School are unable to accept any player registrations for both the West Ham United ID Camp or Galaxy Academy if you are a player currently participating in any FFA or Football NSW endorsed full time Elite Development Programs, such as SAP, NSWIS, AIS or FNSW Academy.
We openly support these programs as the number one development pathway for elite players in Australia.
Academy Development Grades
All academy players will receive a semi annual assessment report from their coach providing feedback on their development across Galaxy’s six core components being;

- CONFIDENCE
- ENJOYMENT
Each time a player has successfully completed four terms in the academy they will be eligible for promotion to the next grade. There are 6 grades in total.

All Galaxy Academy players over the age of nine will receive an invitation to the annual Sydney West Ham United Academy Player Identification Camp which is an invitational only camp conducted in partnership with West Ham United Academy (UK).

Speed of Movement

Players are introduced to dynamic drills and games designed to compliment their clubs Pre Season training. Our core focus in Term one is to condition players for the season ahead using the football at all times.

Term 2
One with the Ball

Players are here introduced to fun and exciting drills and games designed to create a feel for the ball. Players are encouraged to become comfortable with the ball at their feet which forms the basis of their technique.
Term 3
Passing & Receiving
- 16th Jul 2012 - 10th Sep 2012
- 9 Sessions x 75 Minutes
- $250.00
Players are here introduced to dynamic group drills and games that cultivate players ability to pass and receive the football in a game situation. Players are also encouraged to learn correct decision making regarding when to pass and how to move into space.
Term 4
Player Technical Development
- 8th Oct 2012 – 3rd Dec 2012
- 9 Sessions x 75 Minutes
- $250.00
Players are here introduced to various skills and techniques for beating opponents 1v1. Players will learn when and how to apply techniques in a game situation while developing their ability to think as well as act on the field.
